Athena Passiou is a lawyer with postgraduate studies in psychoanalysis and with significant social work over the last 18 years.
President of Thalpos-Mental Health since 2005, she has been a pioneer in psychiatric reform in Greece, undertaking the establishment, organization and operation of Mental Health Units for the psychosocial support of people with mental disorders and psychosocial difficulties, as well as the awareness of the general public on mental health issues.
From 2007 to date, she has led six European and national projects in the field of health, social care, employment and women's entrepreneurship in order to support socially vulnerable groups, while from 2007 to 2010, she was Head of Communication and then President of the National Observatory for the Rights of Children and Adolescents of the General Secretariat for Youth.
Athena Passiou is a graduate of the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a postgraduate in International and Comparative Law from the Berkeley School of Law, University of California and a postgraduate in Psychoanalytic Studies from the University of Sheffield.
