Interdisciplinary Group of Kalamata Unit

Panagiotis was born and raised in Kalamata. Having graduated from the Department of Nursing of the Technological Educational Institute of Heraklion, he completed his traineeship at the General University Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI) inter alia at the Psychiatric Clinic.

His employment in the Medical Offices of the 120 Air Training Wing (PEA) of the Kalamata airport, the Urological and Pathological Clinic of the General Hospital of Kalamata within the framework of the STAGE program of the Ministry of Health, as well as his membership in the Hellenic Nurses Association, equipped him with the necessary knowledge to start his cooperation with the “Thalpos of Kalamata” Unit. 

In the first four years of his employment in the Unit, he worked as a Nurse, then he assumed the role of Head Nurse and in less than a year he also acquired the capacity of the Scientific Responsible.

As the Scientific Responsible, he has the scientific, administrative and educational supervision of the Unit. He exercises complete supervision on the operation of the Unit regarding the planning, the organization and the evaluation of issues relating to the tenants, the human resources of the Unit and the operating procedures for ensuring a high level of quality for the provided services.

Giannis was born and raised in Athens. In the U.S. and in Great Britain, he completed his studies in psychology, sociology and research methods. He is working since 1996 in organizations and psychosocial rehabilitation programs mainly for mental patients, such as Day Centers, Guest Houses, Boarding schools, Mobile Units, Special Social Care Centers (homeless, trafficking), Intervention Programs in crisis (streetworking), Social Cooperatives, and in Missions of humanitarian and development aid abroad.

His valuable and multiannual skills and knowledge, made him appropriate to serve as a representative of Greece in the European Federation of National Organizations Working with the Homeless (FEANTSA) in Brussels, a member of the working group on Health and Social Protection, and he has served as chairman of the Social Cooperative

of the 3rd Mental Heath Department of Attica. Also, inter alia, he has cooperated as a trainer with the Hellenic Center for Mental Health and Research and the Research University Institute of Mental Health. He has taught Psychometry and Psychodiagnostic Methods in the Athens Metropolitan College.

He has worked for several years in Units of Psychosocial Rehabilitation as a psychologist and a psychoanalyst. 

Since 2007, he is a member of the family of “Thalpos-Mental Health” Organization, having worked in the first years as the Scientific Responsible, while today he is the External Supervisor for the “Thalpos of Kalamata”Unit . His responsibilities include the scientific, administrative and educational supervision of the Unit, while he has the complete supervision regarding the planning, the organization and the evaluation of issues relating to the tenants, the work force of the Unit and the operating procedures for ensuring a high level of quality for the provided services.

Eleni was born and raised in Patras. She is a graduate of the Medical School of Patras with a specialty in Psychiatry. She has been employed by various psychiatric clinics, and also by private medical offices in Attica and Messinia. She has also completed a six-year education in the Athenian Institute of Anthropos (AKMA).  

Eleni has earned great and important experience while practicing her specialty at some of the larger hospitals of Attica. More specifically, at the Psychiatric Hospital of Attica (Dafni), the General State Hospital of Athens (Gennimatas) and the General State Hospital of Nikaia, while she served as a Rural doctor at the Psychiatric Hospital of Tripoli. The fact that she has such a great and multiannual experience in the field of Psychiatry, made her an integral and valuable member of the “Thalpos of Kalamata” family for the past eight years. 

Her main responsibility at the “Thalpos of Kalamata” Unit, is the psychiatric monitoring of all the tenants at a diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive level. As a Psychiatrist, she has a direct cooperation with the Scientific Responsible, the Internist of the Unit and the Head Nurse, and she is a member of the Multidisciplinary Therapeutic Group (M.Τ.G.) and the Interdisciplinary Group. Her tasks are always performed in accordance with the Code of Medical Ethics.

Nikos is a graduate of the Medical School of Milan, Italy, and has practiced his internship in Internal Medicine for five years at the  Spiliopoulio “Saint Helen” Hospital and the General Hospital of Attica “KAT”. Then, he completed his service as a rural doctor at the Regional Medical Office of Amigdalies, Ilia, and at the Health Center of Almyros, Volos. Since 1995, he has a private Medical Office in the region of Kalamata. 

For ten years, Nikos has been a member of the family of the “Thalpos of Kalamata” Unit, and he is responsible for the medical monitoring of the tenants at a diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive level. He ensures the optimal clinical condition and the physical health of the tenants in cooperation with the Scientific Responsible, the Psychiatrist and the Head Nurse of the Unit. 

Evi Tsikrikou was born and raised in Kalamata. She has studied Psychology at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens with specialization in the field of Consultation and Addictions Consultation, having been granted a certification by the British organization EDEXCEL. In the context of her studies, she was employed by the Center for the Prevention of Use of Addictive Substances and for the Promotion of Health of the Municipality of Zografos, Attica, and the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Unit of the Municipality of Chalandri, Attica.

She has worked in the Social Solidarity Department of the Directorate for Public Health & Social Care of Messinia, and in Committees for Diagnostic Educational Assessment and Support of Primary Education, as well as in the secondary Education as a psychologist (provision of consulting services). In addition, she has attended a number of conferences,

seminars and workshops on the subject of psychology, she has worked as a rapporteur in seminars for adult vocational education centers and in Lifelong Learning centers, while she has been voluntarily employed by the Therapy Center for Dependent Individuals “Kyttaro”.

Evi became a member of the family of the “Thalpos of Kalamata” Unit in 2016.  Her role consists in observing, clinically and neuropsychologically assessing the behavior of the tenants, and participating in the planning, the implementation and the monitoring of the individual treatment programs of each tenant. She is also responsible for the activities focused on the tenants, their families, and the community, but also on the professionals working in the Unit within the framework of the training required for their effective occupation in the Units. 

Finally, Evi is a member of the group of writers of scientific articles on mental health, which are published on the website of “Thalpos-Mental Health” Organization.

Areti was born and raised in Kalamata. She finished her secondary education in the Department of Health and Welfare of the Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Kalamata with the specialty per cycle of study “Medical and Biological Laboratories Assistants” and “Biochemical Laboratory Assistants". She graduated from the Department of Social Work of the School of Health and Welfare Professions of the Technological Educational Institute of Crete.

Areti, wanting to fully understand the role of the Social Worker and the needs of different social groups, was not limited to a single organization for her traineeship and her employment. In particular, she was employed by the Laboratories of the General Hospital of Kalamata, the Training and Community Development Center of Tilissos, a primary school within her training for Social Work with Groups and Family, the Community

Care-Open Protection for the Elderly Center, the guest-house “Kivotos” of the General Hospital of Kalamata under the Program “Psychargos”, as well as the Community Pharmacy of Kalamata.

Her continuous participation in training programs with social character and her voluntary activity in events concerning raising awareness of society on a variety of issues and the support of vulnerable groups, equipped her with important professional skills and social sensitivities.

In the beginning of 2016, Areti became a member of the family of “Thalpos of Kalamata” and since then she is responsible for the assessment and the handling of the social and welfare needs of the tenants, the support of their relationships with the family and with their social network and the cooperation with the community.

Areti is a member of the group of writers of scientific articles on mental health, which are published on the website of “Thalpos-Mental Health” Organization.

Sofia was born in Tripoli and raised in Athens. She is a graduate of the Department of Economics of the University of Piraeus and a holder of an MBA granted by the Open University of Cyprus. She has attended a variety of seminars in the fields of audit, agriculture and education, while the research she performed on the Development Prospects of the Labor Market in Central Macedonia was published within the script “The jobs of the Future” by Professor Thanasis Katsanevas. 

She has multiannual professional experience in the fields of Economics both in audit and in the fields of tourist and artistic enterprises. She is a member of “Thalpos -Mental Health” Institution since 2011 as an Administrative Official of the “Thalpos of Kalamata” Unit and she is responsible for the managerial and the administrative supervision while she is collaborating with the Scientific Group on administrative or organizational issues.

Maria was born and raised in Kalamata. She studied in the Business Executives Department of the Faculty of Management and Economics of the Technological Educational Institution of Athens, while her interest in depth for the handmade constructions led her to a series of tasks as head of the laboratories. Currently, she is attending the educational seminar “FLORAL DESIGN TECHNIQUES” of the Technological institution of Peloponnese. 

The activities she is responsible for, aim to develop the level of stimulation, expression and act of the treated persons. They are sensory provisions and kinetic exercises of bilateral coordination and organization, which are aimed at improving the social skills, the interactive interaction and the behavioral approach with regard to the developmental, the psychological and the social expressiveness and behavior.
